Nova Design has invested in Ansys DesignSpace as our in-house (FEA) Finite Element Analysis tool.
Currently running the latest version 19.2 of this state of the art FEA computer based stress analysis package, Nova’s design engineers can provide design verification from 3D generated solid or surface models from any CAD package.
Our FEA services enable us to practice our “Right First Time” philosophy because DesignSpace allows us to perform real world, static, structural, thermal, dynamic, weight optimisation, performance optimisation, vibration mode, and safety factor simulations. A detailed report is generated to verify the CAD data, material properties, load conditions and analysis conclusions.
Ansys – DesignSpace – FEA
ANSYS DesignSpace is a mechanical engineering simulation package that provides Nova’s mechanical design engineers with the simulation tools to conceptualise, design and validate their design intent right on their 3D CAD desktop.
ANSYS DesignSpace software enables real time, static structural, thermal, dynamic, weight optimisation, vibration mode, and safety factor simulations to be performed on mechanical designs without the need for advanced analysis knowledge.
Once the geometry has been imported, ANSYS mechanical solutions automatically detect and perform setup for contacts or joints between parts of an assembly. The contact settings and options can be modified, and additional manual contact definitions can be added. Joints for flexible / rigid dynamics are automatically detected. Each contact or joint is easily identified using the graphical tools provided in the environment.
Since the ANSYS geometry import mechanism is common across CAD systems, Nova’s design engineers have the flexibility to work within a single common simulation environment while using multiple CAD packages.Amongst others, ANSYS supports the following CAD systems: Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, CATIA, Pro/ENGINEER, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, NX (Unigraphics) and CoCREATE Modelling. The ANSYS Workbench environment also supports neutral format files such as IGES, Parasolid, ACIS (SAT) and STEP, which enable the use of any CAD system with the capability to export to any of these formats.
