Job Ref 7886 – SENIOR Mechanical Design Engineer – Process Industry

Our client is actively looking for an experienced design engineer who has specific knowledge and experience with designing surface treatment process lines for the metal finishing industry as a whole but primarily having served in the aerospace industry.

They design, manufacture and site install surface treatment plant for anodising, chemical etching, chemical cleaning, passivation, pickling for aero structures and aero engines.

The process lines vary from manual hoist operated equipment to PLC controlled automatic transporter operated equipment. Each plant varies in design; hence the design engineer must understand the many principles involved in designing bespoke surface treatment plant.

The engineer must be proficient and experienced in all aspects of mechanical design when working with steel and thermoplastic materials. Other areas of expertise required are as follows:

Experienced in:

AutoCAD 2D software / SolidWorks 3D Software or similar

Overhead automatic transporter design

Manual and or semi-automatic transporter system design

Cross transfer design / Process tank design

Pipework systems design for Steel and Plastic pipework

Fume extraction systems design inc. Fume scrubber, extraction ducting, fan systems

Civil works design

Heating systems design and calculations

Cooling systems design and calculations

Project Management & Co-ordination

Communication skills are imperative, you will be asked to visit client sites for kick off meetings and will be required to hold technical discussions on the process plant design as and when required.

As part of the role the engineer will be required to project manage the process plant installation. This will require regular visits to site, coordination with other contractors I.e. control systems contractors, building contractors and SFE site personnel. The site locations could be anywhere in the world, so some overseas travel will be necessary.

Work Hours

The engineer will be required to work a standard 40hr week. Weekend working may be required and hours outside of the standard working week may be required based on the project demands, we require the engineer to be flexible and accommodating to this. 

Remuneration / Package

A comprehensive package will be offered to the candidate which fits all requirements to includes:

Salary £28,000 – £38,000

Company Car (of choice within a spend limit)

Company Mobile phone / Company Laptop

Company Fuel Card

21 days standard holiday plus bank holidays

Job Ref 7867 – GRADUATE Mechanical Design Engineer

We have a client who has a requirement for a graduate mechanical design engineer to join their internal design team.

Looking for an enthusiastic graduate who enjoys developing and designing a complete concept of machine being able to follow the complete process through from start to finish.

Career development within the role to a Senior Design Engineer, along with in house training.

The client is a very well established 3rd generation family business, with a trading history of around 60 years. They have a turnover of between £7 and £8 million per annum.

The current design team comprises of 3 engineers, one of whom has been with the company for 40 years.

Salary : £20-25K depending on experience.
Hours : Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00
(Overtime at flat rate, most office staff come in between 06:00 and 08:00)
Holidays : 28 days including Bank Holidays (Day extra after five years)

Job Ref 7861 – Mechanical Design Engineers

We have a client with an urgent requirement for a number of experienced mechanical design engineers and detail draughtspersons to join their internal design team on a rolling contract basis.

Candidates will have experience working in a design office environment with a mechanical handling background and ideally with experience of the automotive industry.

Must be proficient in 3D modelling ideally using Autodesk Inventor CAD package.

Contract Position – Estimated at 2 – 3 months initially with potential to roll on as expected orders drop with client

Job Ref 7841 – Electrical Design Engineer

Customer Industry – Bespoke Designer and supplier of specialised furnaces 

Duties & Responsibilities

Design of control schemes, wiring diagrams and control panels utilising AutoCAD Electrical (as a preference). Schemes for process control, motor control and mechanical handling equipment.

Practical knowledge of PLC systems including Siemens Tia Portal and Rockwell Allen Bradley RSLogix systems. Ability to program and commission PLC’s & HMI’s from a FDS (Functional Design Specification) along with practical knowledge of key components from several different suppliers, these to include process instrumentation, variable speed drives and power related equipment i.e. thyristors.

Ability to specify all the electrical equipment required for the correct operation of the plant and installation to customer requirements to current British and European standards associated with industrial installations. This is to include the current I.E.E. Regulations.

A working knowledge of thermal equipment associated with furnaces & ovens along with gas circuits, pneumatics and hydraulics circuits would be an advantage.

Ensure all electrical design work undertaken by the business is properly planned, managed and signed off in accordance with procedures, standards and regulations.

Although mainly office based the duties will include site visits and commissioning of the equipment as and when required.

Qualifications / Experience

ONC / HNC /HND or an Electrical Engineering Degree

At least 5 years’ experience in an industrial electrical design role

Practical knowledge of panel wiring and site wiring installations would be an advantage

We have a client who has an urgent requirement for a number of experienced mechanical design engineers and detail draughtspersons to join their Design Team.

Candidates will have experience working in a design office environment with a general mechanical and ideally a water treatment design / detailing background.

Must be proficient in 3D modelling ideally using Inventor CAD package together with Autodesk Vault PLM system and iLogic.

Contract Position – Estimated at 6 – 8 months

Location – Dudley area / West Midlands

We have a client who has an urgent requirement for a number of experienced mechanical design engineers and detail draughtspersons to join their Design Team.

Candidates will have experience working in a design office environment with a general mechanical design / detailing background ideally working on projects within the furnace or steel processing industry. Must be proficient in 3D modelling ideally using Inventor CAD package.

Contract Position – Estimated at 8 months

Location – Dudley area / West Midlands
