Nova Design have recently been awarded an investment grant of approximately £17,000 via the Business Improvement Programme (www.birmingham.gov.uk/bip), working with both Birmingham City Council (www.birmingham.gov.uk) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The grant has been utilised as part of Nova’s on-going project commitment and financial investment into additional CAD workstations and virtual simulation software.

With the current and foreseeable internal workload, Nova are embarking on another recruitment drive, with the view to employing additional design engineers and detail draughtspersons with a variety of engineering backgrounds and design experience.

The upcoming workload includes a number of projects associated with Aerospace gas turbine tooling and ground support equipment together with a large variety of tooling projects for the Automotive industry.

The Automotive industry projects include Body In White tooling, assembly and weld fixtures together with mechanical handling equipment associated with moving the car bodies around the automotive plant whilst they complete the trim and final assembly phases of production.

In addition to this, Nova are also undertaking virtual robot simulation studies to prove robot reach and cycle times together with ergonomic studies proving assembly demands on the shop floor staff undertaking vehicle assembly.

High Precision Engineering – A Masterpiece

We came across this video on YouTube over the weekend – showing off high precision engineering to create a masterpiece.

It’s not an industry Nova have any experience of, we just thought it was a great video 🙂

A couple of other websites mention that there are only 7 handmade examples worldwide and they went for in excess of $3Million each . . . .
